Frequently asked questions - Alka® Tabs Calcium

What is the difference between Alka® tabs calcium and Alka® tabs original?

Alka® Tabs Calcium consists of calcium carbonate in pure form. The tablet dissolves in the intestines and enters the blood stream through the intestinal wall. By reaction with carbonic acid, the carbonate is converted to bicarbonate and thus increases the alkaline buffer. Additionally, pure ionized calcium is added to the body, which is good for the bones. On the contrary, Alka® Tabs Original is a tablet that already consists of bicarbonate. Alka® Tabs Original is immediately absorbed into the blood by the intestinal wall.
Alka® Tabs Calcium is a good choice for people who cannot take sodium and/or potassium or that suffer from bone decalcification.

What makes Alka® tabs calcium better than other calcium tablets?

Alka® Tabs Calcium has a gastro-resistant coating that prevents the calcium carbonate from being neutralized by gastric acid. This ensures that the calcium carbonate dissolves in the intestines.
Alka® Tabs Calcium is made up of pure ionized calcium. Many other calcium tablets contain impurities that have a negative effect when absorbed into the blood. The purity of a calcium tablet is important for long-term health.

Can I use the Alka® tabs calcium without consulting my GP?

The use of Alka® Tabs Calcium is very safe and can be used without consulting your GP but if it makes you feel more comfortable, please do so.

When do you use the Alka® tabs calcium and Alka® drops?

When you cannot use potassium because you are pursuing a very consistent potassium level (in heart medication), we recommend the usage of Alka® Tabs Calcium in combination with the Alka® Drops. Additionally, people with osteoporosis as a result of a calcium deficiency are also recommended to use the Alka® Tabs Calcium in combination with the Drops.

What is the difference between other calcium tablets and the Alka® tabs calcium?

The difference between Alka® Tabs Calcium and other calcium tablets is the gastro-resistant coating of the Alka® Tabs Calcium. This coating ensures that the calcium carbonate is not affected by the gastric acid, but gradually dissolves in the intestines. As a result, the calcium carbonate is absorbed through the intestinal wall. The carbonate is converted into bicarbonate by the carbon dioxide reaction in the blood, thereby neutralizing the acid waste. In addition, pure ionized calcium ions are released to the blood. This free flow of calcium ions can then bind with the acid waste so that the body will not use calcium from the bones to bind with acids. Alka® Tabs Calcium thus has a double effect.
